PUC Mid-Season Momentum Finds First Season Wins

As most students here at Pacific Union College were heading home for the holidays, the men’s basketball team was extending their stay to play a few more crucial games. Despite the frustration and adversity they have faced up to this point in the season, the Pioneers persevered and showed heart as they went 3-3 in a six game stretch that spanned from December 17 – January 12.

The Pioneers could not have found their momentum at a better time. They are in midseason, and the remaining games left are all conference games. The Pioneers, who are 1-2 in CALPAC play, look to improve on that record before the CALPAC Tournament, which begins on February 22. The Pioneers have an ample amount of time to improve their conference record and to gain higher seeding in the tournament. With eight games left on their schedule before the tournament, the Pioneers look to ride their momentum and finish the second half of the season strong.

The Pioneers will need contributions from every player on the roster, as the remaining games on the schedule are vital to the seeding in the CALPAC Tournament. With the remaining games on the schedule being all conference games, the Pioneers must take advantage of every opportunity and limit mistakes as much as possible. With seniors Josh Jewett and Michael Giang, PUC students can expect to see them to play with maximum effort as they finish out their collegiate career.

The Pioneers have three home games remaining, with senior night coming on February 4 against Menlo College (whom PUC beat 52-48 earlier this season). PUC looks to end on a high note, and students should
